Is Acupuncture Painful? Does Cupping hurt?

Does Acupuncture feel painful?

Acupuncture is not painful, and while it does involve the insertion of fine needles into the skin, they do not cause pain. The needles are extremely fine, similar in thickness to a hair, and a licensed, accredited acupuncturist understands how and where to place these needles in order to stimulate the body’s intrinsic healing process without inflicting pain. Although some may feel discomfort, or a sensation of pressure or a mild ache as the needles are placed, it does not fee like a injection or shot.

Is Cupping Painful?

Cupping does not hurt, though it may cause soreness or swelling. While these areas are tender and bruised, the process of cupping doesn’t cause anymore discomfort than a regular massage would. When practiced by a licensed, trained acupuncturist, cupping is relaxing – while you may feel tired or fatigued after treatment, this is simply part of the therapy.
